I ordered this set for my wife and myself,everything was great. We received the gear in only three days. I used the gear to dive in Florida at devils den and Ginnie springs it worked great.

This is a great dive package at a better price then you will find anywhere else. The B.C. is simple and rugged, with a dust cap on the LP port and an emergency whistle. Included is a retainer for your console hose. At 5’6” 185 lbs. The medium fits me well.
I have two 80 ft. Plus wreck dives and two 50 ft. drift dives on this B.C. It keeps great buoyancy and adjusts easily.
The compact console functions well.
The rebel octopus is an ok breather, but then you should only EVER have to use it once.
I upgraded the regulator to the MARES ABYSS. This is where I would recommend you put your money. I’m sure the Rebel regulator is a quality reg. I wanted the best I could get from the beginning.

This is a great deal for a great recreational dive package. I had been looking for these exact components when I stumbled onto this gear package at Joe Diver.
The Mares Vector Origin BC is a very well-made, very sturdy, and extremely comfortable "basic" BC. This is a perfect entry-level BC that I expect will last me for several years of diving. We decided to upgrade the regulator to the Mares Proton 12 (keeping the Rebel as the octopus). The Proton 12 is a great recreation regulator, and I highly recommend the upgrade (although the Mares Rebel is also a good, solid reg). We originally ordered three sets, and we were so pleased after 7 dives in our home waters here in Hawaii that we just ordered 2 more sets for our recently-certified kids... that makes a total of 5 of these packages for our family! Service was great too!

My wife and I dive in Canada and on vacations. We had been looking into buying our own gear but the prices here are astronomical. For a comparable package here the local dive shop wanted $1,200CAD each. We bought two sets from Joe, received them within three days of ordering and paid duty and taxes on receipt. Even after our government took their cut we still only paid in the area of $1,100CAD for two sets. Great gear, great deal. Not to mention the amazing customer service we got from Joe Diver (thanks Kimberly)!!! We won’t hesitate to buy from you again!

Just wanted to thank you. Received Shipment yesterday and everything was perfect. Still can't believe the prices and products. Wanted to Scuba Dive forever, but always thought it would cost too much for the gear. Checked at some of the shops in ND(there aren't many),and even with a 50% off sale they were wanting $600 for the regulator alone.CRAZY!!!I ordered one of your scuba packages(mares 444),wetsuit,fins, mask & snorkel,and boots for around $700.UNBELIEVABLE
Sounds a little corny, But thanks for helping to make dreams come true.With a family of 7, the last thing I had was $2000-$3000 for scuba gear.$700 was just too good to be true!!Thank's again.....Matt

I finished my SSI OW course on 8/13/06 and had ordered my Mares 444 dive package just before. I now have got my SSI level two dive card and am on my 15th dive in less than 8 weeks. The gear performs very well and the price can't be beat. I've taken it to Ginnie springs, Devils Eye, Devils Ear, Devils Den, Blue springs (orange city), Paradise springs, and Blue Grotto. To be able to do all those dives, had I rented my gear would have cost about 600 bucks. With this package you own the gear and still have gas money to hit the road with.
I have seen in forums, new divers asking how much it costs to get set up with gear to start scuba diving. The answers shock me, 1,200 1,500 are said regularly. Once,I even read a reply that said it costs 2,500 to start diving. I just send the link to this page and a smiley face.
If you trying to break into scuba diving or are just interested in geting some great new gear without having to go bankrupt, then the mares 444 dive package is the right choice. The BC is extremly well made. The reg and octo are both comfortable and feel reasonibily natural as far as braething goes. All that left to to grab your camera and get wet!

I bought this package a few months ago. Compared to some of the rental equipment I have used the regulator breathes more normally than any equipment I have used in the past. I liked the package so much we just purchased a second set for my wife to use since she just got certified. The Mares 444 package is a great value and great equipment for the price.
