This precision regulator is highly recommended! Wait until you hear how quiet this regulator is. You won’t believe it!
The Ellipse balanced piston has a newly designed second stage made from highly sophisticated and durable technopolymers.
All the parts of the Ellipse Titanium, most of which are patented, are technologically used; this guarantees extremely top level performance combined with its now proverbial quick and easy maintenance.
It comes with the AC10 1st stage which is the latest version of the Cressi balanced piston model, manufactured for many years and highly appreciated for its exceptionally durable and reliable characteristics.
Over the years this 1st stage has undergone constant development combined with a considerable increase in performance.
It has a swivel head with some 5 low pressure hoses, a sintered filter and the really handy Cressi system for external calibration of the intermediate pressure.
The Ellipse balanced piston regulator has all the features of new generation regulators: streamlined, lightweight, and a modern, attractive design. Even though it is small, it delivers high performance and is a real leader in its category, to the point where it is a favorite with all divers, from beginners to technical and professional divers.
The second stage of the Ellipse balanced piston regulator is made from sophisticated new generation technopolymers, featuring a really original flexibility, mechanical durability and shock-absorbing and noise reduction capacity for this sector.
The Ellipse balanced piston casing has a patented “fold-out” opening. With a simple 4 mm Allen wrench it only takes a few seconds to undo the cam-lock bayonet locking system to open up the casing. This rare operation is necessary every now and then so as to clean and inspect the inside and to make sure the diaphragm and exhaust valve are intact.
The structure of the elliptical shaped diaphragm is patented and it is possible to use a lever of the same size or even bigger than the ones found on considerably larger regulators.
When you open the casing you access the regulator system, a classic downstream side valve. The lever has a special, computer-designed and patented configuration that virtually puts an end to friction against the diaphragm cap, thanks to both its special structure and to a completely new, also patented feature of the poppet. In fact, instead of simply sliding longitudinally, like all poppets, this one also tilts vertically, minimizing friction against the orifice. The rectangular opening of this orifice is protected internally by a revolutionary seal made from elastomer (patented), which conveys all the air towards the injector instead of allowing it to enter the casing through the orifice opening. This drastically reduces the risk of the 2nd stage freezing in icy-cold water, and all the air is conveyed to the mouthpiece, thus adding to the performance of the regulator.
Another exceptional patented feature of the Ellipse balanced piston is the possibility of extracting the entire regulator system from the casing, just by loosening a counter-screw and removing two small metal retaining cylinders. So all maintenance and calibration can be “open heart”, keeping the time needed to a minimum and facilitating these operations.
The new structure of the exhale valve makes breathing even less of an effort than the already excellent Airtech. The valve works in a special trap, which protects it from any sudden flow of water that might be channeled through the exhaust tee in particular situations (jumping from boat into water, currents, sudden movements of the head, etc…).
A lever that acts as a flow deflector, situated in the upper part of the casing makes it possible to adjust the Venturi effect. When it is moved to (-) position it acts as pre-dive, for water to enter and for the initial phases of the dive, and when it is moved to (+) the regulator can then develop maximum performance.
A contrasting system of counter-flows inside the casing balances depression created by the powerful Venturi effect, perfectly calibrating air flow to the diver’s requirements.
The first stage is the renowned Cressi AC10 balanced piston model.
This balanced piston first stage means performance remains constant, irrespective of depth and pressure from the tanks. With the continuous reviews and improvements over the years all the air passages inside the first stage have been completely redesigned and considerably increased so as to give the excellent performance that AC10 offers today.
Alongside this excellent performance, the AC10 boasts simple mechanics, resistance to wear and tear and requires so little upkeep that it has become a product with legendary reliability.
It has some 5 low-pressure ports located right around a swivel head, which guarantees rational hose positioning on any valve.
We must also point out the quick and really handy external system to regulate intermediate pressure, which can be calibrated in a few seconds with a normal Allen key and the extremely powerful sintered filter system to filter air from the tanks.
It comes with international yoke or with 200 or 300 bar DIN connections.
The use of a lever with a special structure and the almost total reduction of friction have made it possible to obtain extremely high performance. The inhalation effort is particularly low, averaging about 4 Mbar, with an almost nil initial effort. The overall breathing work is less than 1 joule/litre, a figure that very few regulators can achieve. Anyone who tries the regulator in water will be amazed at the extremely easy and gentle air flow provided, and apart from the excellent readings provided at the test bench, it highlights a peculiar characteristic of this regulator: how extremely pleasant it makes breathing and its incredible silence.
