Mares Avanti Excel Fullfoot Scuba or Snorkeling Fin
The Avanti Excel full foot fin is an offspring of the Avanti Quattro Excel open heel combining Mares (patented) Super Channel Thrust and Optimized Pivoting Blade (O.P.B.) technology. O.P.B. optimizes the efficiency of the blade with every phase of the kick cycle. Whale tale design on the foot pocket actually transmits the power from the legs to the foot pocket down through this design to the blade. Super Channel Thrust adds in flexible channels at the blade propelling the water more efficiently off the blade giving you more thrust. An advanced fin, those seeking a great level of power will love the efficiency and supremacy of the Avanti Excel.
Mares Avanti Excel Fullfoot Scuba or Snorkeling Fin Main Features:
- Following numerous tests on new materials in the field and in the lab, and after intense computer simulations, the Mares Avanti Excel was born.
- The Super Channel Thrust makes it possible to channel the water and optimize thrust in comparison to other fins of similar size.
- The elastic OPB system ensures that the blade is always at an optimal angle during both the upward and downward strokes, thus considerably encreasing efficiency.
- The “whale fin” section in the foot pocket allows for greater transmission of power, with improved sensitivity when finning.
- The consequent advantage is greater thrust with the same effort.
Mares Avanti Excel Fullfoot Scuba or Snorkeling Fin Detailed Features:
Channel Thrust
Channel trust Technology, patented by Mares in 1985.
When water spills over the blade sides, it does not contribute to thrust, and simply decreases efficiency.
If appropriate channeling occurs, all the displaced water adds thrust. The "Channel Thrust" technology makes it possible to maximize channeling of the fluid streams and to move a much greater amount of water compared to other fins of the same size. The resulting advantage is greater thrusting power with the same amount of effort.
Saying that one’s fins are the best is not enough; one has to prove this statement with objective data!
MARES was the first manufacturer to use an exclusive apparatus to perform scientific testing of fin efficiency and thrust. Testing is carried out jointly with the INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND MECHANICS OF GENOA UNIVERSITY.
Thanks to this piece of equipment, which has been further improved ; it is possible to know values such as the thrust, power, performance and work of the fin moment by moment, thereby optimizing the profile at each stage of the kick.
Optimized Pivoting Blade (O.P.B.)
During the finning stroke, the structure of traditional fins tends to limit the flexing angle of the blade. Consequently, especially in the downward movement, only a small part of the fin pushes the water in the direction of motion, while the remaining part pushes the water in the opposite direction, reducing the diver's forward thrust.
The O.P.B. system patented by Mares in 1999 allows the blade to assume an optimal angle during both the upward and downward strokes, thus considerably increasing efficiency. All the diver’s muscular effort translates into thrust in the direction of motion.
Another limitation of traditional fins is the degradation of the thrust produced during the finning stroke, with substantial differences between the maximum and minimum values. The O.P.B. system, on the other hand, ensures optimal thrust throughout every phase of the finning stroke, thereby minimizing fatigue and affording much more fluid movement through the water!
