This is the traditional display, with a dial (“face”) and
hands. The advantage of analog displays is that they show
you the time quickly and easily. It has been shown that
the human brain grasps the time more quickly on an analog
watch, simply by glancing at the relative positions of
the hands: this gives a quick “picture” of the time.
Solid stainless steel is strong, so it will protect your
watch well. It is also quite pure, so will not react with
the skin. A polished finish has a rich luster, which can
make a watch look more like a piece of jewelry, without
adding jewels or gold plating.
Generally quite expensive, this hard metal requires a
special hardened tooling to manufacture. Better cases
require considerable hand polishing and finishing.
Stainless steel is very good against the skin (allergic
reactions to high grade stainless steel are rare) and
offers great strength and durability.

History of St. Mortiz
St. Moritz commenced operations in North America in 1980.
The corporation designs, manufactures and distributes
watches, specializing in high-performance sports watches.
In the 1980's we also worked with some top Swiss watch
brands, developing their distribution and service in
North America. This was a very good learning experience,
but we found that by making our own designs, we could
deliver great products and provide our customers with
better value for money (often using the same high-end
components as the better-known, "luxury" brands). Today,
while we focus on developing watches under our own brand,
we also design, manufacture and service watches under
other brands, for a number of well-known companies. Our
Corporate Division designs and builds watches with custom
dials and logos for a growing list of corporate customers.
From the beginning, we have made our watches to last and
backed them with the best possible after-sales service.
We sell through specialty, full-service retailers, so
you will not find us in the large chains or discount stores,
but our products are now distributed throughout North
America and in a growing list of countries all over the
world.
In their current collection, you will find watches featuring
mechanical movements and traditional Swiss watchmaking
craftsmanship, as well as, the latest high technology from
Japan. Bands and other components come from many different
countries around the world, including Italy, Germany, the
United States, France and Hong Kong, with each component
carefully selected for the best possible performance and
value. Every watch has its own "story", which we try to summarize for you in this on-line catalog.
They operate their own Factory Service Centers in the United
States and Canada. They do this because we believe that
high quality watches need high quality service. In 1999,
they opened a new Service Facility in the UK. Planning
for an additional Service Center in Japan is also well
advanced.
St. Moritz is now one of the fastest growing lines of
specialty sportswatches in North America.
Their corporate philosophy is based on
three elements:
Function:
At St. Moritz, they know that you count on your watch. They
incorporate powerful new technologies in their watches
and avoid gimmicks, to make their products as functional,
reliable and affordable as possible.
Form:
They invest extra time in the small details, to add something
special to the design of each model. More than just a
good, functional product, every watch has a look and
feel which sets it apart and makes it a little out of
the ordinary ....
Service:
Finally, their commitment does not end when you buy one
of their watches. Long after the initial sale, they
provide prompt and professional after-sales service and
maintenance, to keep your watch working well and looking
good ... for a very long time. They do this in their own,
fully equipped Service Centers.
