Rash Guard UPF Rating - Make sure to buy rashguards that are UPF rated. Most of our rash guard products are UPF 30, 50 and some are UPF 50+. UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. UPF is very similar to SPF ratings for sunscreens that we have all used. When a rashguard shirt has a UPF 30 rating, that means that the rash guard material will only allow 1/30th of UV (Ultraviolet) radiation get to the skin, helping to protect you and your loved ones from skin cancer and premature skin aging.
Rash Guard Sizing - In general, rash guards are meant to fit snug or skin tight. We suggest that you buy your rashguards one size larger than your normal clothes. The number one reason for exchange is sizing, and nearly all the time it is exchanged for a larger sized rash guard. If you are buying rash guards for your kids for the first time, buy them one or two sizes larger so that your kids have some time to get used to the snug/tight fit. This will also save you some money as they will be able to grow into them for some time!! Keep in mind that as a rashguard stretches, the UPF rating will decrease.
Body Glove - The fit tends to run small, with a snug, skintight fit - Order 2 sizes larger for a looser "T-Shirt" fit.
O'Neill - Order 1 size larger for a looser fit, except for loose fitting rash guard styles (indicated within the product description)
Rash Guard Material Weight - The quality and the weight of the material used in rash guard products is very important in both in the protection and durability rash guards provide. We only carry first quality middle weight to heavy weight rash guards. Many web sites out there are trying to pass off cheap imitations, so do your research before completing your purchase.
Rash Guard Color - The rash guard color is more than just a fashion decision. The darker the rash guard, the more protection it offers, but it will be hotter to wear in the bright sun.
Rash Guard Style - JoeDiverAmerica sells many different brands, styles, and colors of Rash Guards including O'Neill, Body Glove, Mares, and Akona.
