RS-230 The R-230 first stage is the first TUSA product to offer a balanced diaphragm system. The ports feature left-right symmetry (H.P.X2, L.P.X4) for easy tank settings, even for beginners. The second stage of the RS-230 regulator includes an exhaust resistance adjustment function for fine adjustment of air flow according to individual needs.
For several years now TUSA has been developing regulators at our R& D facility in Japan under the ISO9001 International Quality Assurance System. To ensure maximum performance and continued monitoring during the critical development stage, TUSA introduced the ANSTI regulator performance system. This system has enabled us to conduct thorough ongoing analysis of regulator characteristics to guarantee top class performance for both the first and second stages of our new regulators.
Achieving an ideal intake/exhaust resistance value
What is the ideal intake/exhaust resistance value for a regulator? TUSA's R& D department introduced sophisticated intake/exhaust air resistance measuring equipment to determine the ideal resistance level. Our goal was a light structure that achieves natural breathing with no excessive air intake. The Balanced Diaphragm Type RS-230 offers you superior intake/exhaust properties thanks to a painstaking analysis of the working structure. The second stage features a deflection tube for forced intake of air from the demand valve, and a deflector attached to the inside of the housing. This results in a major reduction in intake resistance.
Balanced diaphragm type first stage
The RS-230 is the first regulator from TUSA to feature the balanced diaphragm system for the first stage. The balanced diaphragm system features minimum variation in intermediate pressure in relation to changes in residual tank pressure. The ports feature left-right symmetry (H. P. x2, L. P. x4) for easier tank adjustments, even for beginners.
Purge button
The purge button features soft elastomer which includes a stainless steel frame to ward off external shock and protect the demand lever and other essential parts.
Demand system
The demand lever features TUSA's own unique surface finishing to significantly reduce rubbing resistance of moving parts.
Lightweight housing
The second stage main unit is smaller and lighter to reduce water resistance during diving, thus reducing the load on the face during use. The body materials are super- tough nylon (heat pliable polyamide resin) reinforced with glass fiber for outstanding hardness and shock resistance.
Exhaust valve
The exhaust valve, which affects exhaust resistance values, features a large and much more flexible type. Also a deflector is added for smoother airflow and extremely low exhaust resistance.
Intake resistance
The second stage includes a deflector to forcibly guide air from the demand valve. That prevents free flow while significantly lessening intake resistance. The result is one of the lightest intake resistance values in the industry compared with products from other companies.
Flow Adjustment Mechanism [PAT. P.]
Respiration rate and air consumption rate vary greatly while diving according to environmental conditions (water depth, current, etc.) as well as the skill and physical condition of the diver. A necessary condition for safe and pleasant diving is natural breathing in correspondence to the situation at any time. With the S-30 you simply rotate the flow adjustment knob on the side with its ideal click feeling for free control of the air supply volume according to your needs. The multiple thread screws allow speedy and fine adjustment all the way from a condition in which you can appropriately sense resistance to exhaled air to a condition in which you feel almost no resistance.
High density silicone mouthpiece
The high-density silicone mouthpiece provides added comfort and reduced jaw fatigue.
Unit structure[ PAT. P.]
The second stage features a unit structure [PAT. P.] in which the demand housing, demand lever and deflector form a single unit. The individual sections use almost no special parts, thus offering easier disassembly and assembly. That halves the time required for regular checks, overhauls and other maintenance.
